Local Nicomachus - mostly a blog on issues pertaining to cycling in Durham, also has a cycling map. Triangle Area Greenways - a collection of greenway maps in the area. Wayfaring - a map of popular trails in Durham. The Bicycle Chain - my LBS Cycle NC - they sponsor a Fall ride across NC and a Spring retreat ride. Carolina Tarwheels - a local cycling club Duke SuperOptics - they carry all kinds of prescription ready cycling sunglasses. Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission - this site has lots of useful information. Go Triangle - Have you thought about taking the bus but you can't figure out the schedules? Let them do it for you. NC DOT Bicycle and Pedestrian Division Craigslist - Buy or sell bicycles here locally TTA bike rack instructions - I think DATA's racks are similar too. Triangle Rails to Trails Conservancy - for those of us who love greenways. Smart Commute - mainly geared toward RTP employees Other Bike Forums - great resource for getting your cycling related questions answered. Sheldon Brown - probably the best cycling related resource on the web. Utah Mountain Biking - this is your one stop shop for learning how to fix your bike. Arkel - need panniers or other commuting gear? These folks make the best stuff and stand behind it. I have several bags from them. Adventure Cycling - going on a bike tour? Check this site out. |
My Best of Durham List Durham Convention & Visitors' Bureau - great site for information about Durham. We Love Durham - well of course we do. Why would anyone live in a place they did not love? Durham Bulls - AAA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. You can't beat fun at the ballpark. Durham Hoods - a really cool map application with resources for Durham's neighborhoods Dirty Durham - Celebrating the grittier side of Durham. Bull City Rising - Stay up to date on Durham politics and issues. Kevin always gets the inside scoop. Tyler's Taproom at American Tobacco - my favorite watering hole. Metro 8 Steakhouse - our favorite date restaurant. This place is a well-kept secret. The chocolate souffle is just ridiculous. Tobacco Road Sports Cafe - What's not to like? Fresh, delicious local food, inexpensive (especially at happy hour), and overlooking the ballpark! Nosh - Wendy and her crew are awesome! Great food and board games. They cater too! Parker and Otis - great atmosphere and selection of food, foodstuffs and other stuff. Four Square Restaurant - Durham's finest fine dining restaurant in my opinion. Snarks Games - OK, my kids really like this place. It's a nice safe place to drop them off to play video games with friends. Scott Riggs Racing - NASCAR driver in the Nationwide Series, Scott is from Bahama. Measurement, Inc. - This company has done a lot for the Durham community, and they do it quietly. Durham Farmer's Market - great local fresh food and goods. Each Saturday morning is a social event here. Arts Can Heal - Ruth Hamilton who also founded Carolina Ha Ha, specializes in healing through art. This is a wonderful innovative therapy technique. My Best of Durham Nonprofits List Carolina Ha Ha - This great organization promotes health through humor. Kids Voting Durham - I am on the Advisory Board and think this is a great civic organization. Urban Ministries of Durham - this homeless shelter and kitchen does a lot to help Durham. Junior Leadership Durham - I was involved in the start up of this all volunteer organization and served on the board. It's a great idea if I can say so myself. Volunteer Center of Durham - I worked here for several years. If you want to get involved, this is the place to start. Downtown Durham

is happening downtown, look no further than this group. Bill Kalkhof
makes things happen. Other Sites Helpful Google Maps API sites Google Maps API Tutorial - this was the most helpful resource for programming this site. Icon Creator - When you add sites to your favorites, some show different icons other than the standard Internet Explorer one. This is a free resource to convert any image into one of those icons. Google Maps API - this is the official Google site. It actually wasn't all that helpful.
